Two-year-old Nia is so full of words. She talks all the time. Awhile ago we tried to estimate her vocabulary, and stopped counting when we reached 400 words. It must be 600-1000 now! Every day she blows us away with a new word, or a new, longer sentence.
Nia is also more and more physically capable. At the park, she is going down the slides on her own, and enjoys hanging and swinging on the bars. Swinging is still a big part of park time, but not as popular as it once was.
A few months ago, separation anxiety was pretty intense. I started doing a very specific routine with Nia every time I had to leave her (4 hugs, 3 kisses) and it seems to have helped so much. So long as I keep it consistent, she cheerfully says "bye!" to me and lets me go.
We haven't experienced any "terrible two"-ness. Nia is a joy to be with! Must of the time when she says "no" to something, she says it cheerfully and instead of saying no she says, "uh-uh." It's sweet. And there are next to zero tantrums. Sure, she's opinionated and yes, she let's me know, but we've been able to avoid serious melt downs. In fact, I can only think of 1 bad week and in retrospect it was teething-related.
Like I said, she's an utter joy. So glad to have Nia as my companion!
Can't wait to see what this year has in store for us! Love you, Bug!
For comparison, here are the pics from Nia's first b'day:
