It is a tiny corner of our house, but it is my favorite.
Just to the left of the first bar stool...
... under the bar/speakers/CDs/bamboo/etc.
... next to the hall wall
... there is a little spot -- a tiny spot -- that is magical for me.
It is here that we have our Seasons Table. A little table that we've been decorating for 2 years now to fit with whatever season we are in. My favorite day is when the table makes the dramatic jump from one season....
... to the next!
I know it isn't really officially winter yet, but there is always that awkward time when one season is ending and other is beginning and it seemed right with the beginning of December and the arrival of the Christmas Tree to go ahead and usher in the Winter Table.
The fir sprigs came from my dad's tree farm. We "flocked" them with white paint and glitter and then made little bases for each one with clay.
Then we added some white silk for snow and some animal figurines. The animals were some Nia already had. These were specially selected as "winter animals." (The bear was not chosen, you see, because it is hibernating.)
Over the next few months, the table will change as Nia finds little things out in nature to add to the table. A leaf, a rock, some berries.
It is always changing, and so lovely both during the day and at night when we light the candle.
