It is so nice to have a day in the middle of the week to look forward to. For me, it's Tuesdays.
Here's why.
My kiddo is done with school at noon & it is my day to pick her up. So I work for a few hours in the morning, and then pick up Nia for lunch. Sometimes on the bike, which is extra fun. We always eat out for lunch on Tuesdays; she picks the place (9 times out of 10 it is Charlie Hong Kong, but sometimes it is sushi).
Like most parents, during our lunch date I ask, "How was school today?"
And like most kids (I hope!), she will barely tell me anything (and she's only in preschool!). So we started a new game inspired by her favorite game of the moment: "Two Truths and a Lie." We do the school version, meaning she tells me two truths and a lie about what happened at school that day and I have to try to figure out which one is not true.
Then of course she wants me to do it about my work day. I am really terrible at it:
I talked on the phone with 10 different people!
I had 100 emails in my inbox when I logged in!
A baboon crossed my path on my way to pick you up!
But the important thing is that we are talking and giggling over lunch, and I sometimes get a little glimpse of what piqued her interest at school.
Someone brought a cat to school!
I played with the boys!
I ate the snack!
She's really good at this game. In this case #3 was the lie. :)
