In a nut shell, 2012 wasn't my best year.
A week after my birthday in March (35!), I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer (ER/PR-, HER2 +). Within a very short amount of time, I was hooked up to the chemo drip, lost my hair, and spent a lot of time napping. It seemed like I spent the spring & summer either in the Chemo Lounge or in my bed. As the leaves began to change color on the trees outside, I had a modified radical mastectomy and eventually did 28 rounds of radiation treatments, from Thanksgiving to Christmas.
By the time December was winding down, my body, my spirit, and my family had endured a lot.
2012 wasn't my best year.
But! I survived it. I ended the year cancer-free!
2013 is bound to be better, right?!
And so I'm turning over a new leaf. An anticancer leaf: New diet. New exercise plan. New emotional well-being plan...
This blog will be my journal along this path to health (whether that means continued remission or being strong enough to renew my fight against the beast). I hope you'll come along.
Great idea April
